Each year, the STATUS List by STAT features 50 influential people shaping the future of health and life sciences across biotech, medicine, health care, policy, and health tech.
STAT noted that Professor Roberts researches the resurgence of race as a biological category, especially in policies related to biomedicine and biotechnology. Her work urges stakeholders in medicine and bioscience not to treat race as a category for genetic difference, but instead to investigate social explanations for gaps in health and the effects of social inequality. A prolific author and scholar, her work encompasses bioethics, reproductive health, and child welfare.
