Penn Museum to remove Morton Cranial Collection

The Penn Museum has announced that it will remove the Morton Cranial Collection from public view, though it will still be accessible to researchers.  The collection was established by Samuel George Morton a 19th-century scientist, Penn alumnus and Professor, who promoted racial science by studying skull sizes.  The collection contains the remains of enslaved people from Cuba and the United States.  Penn Medicine and the Afterlives of Slavery Project (PMAS) Affiliate Graduate Student Fellow, Paul Wolff Mitchell, has been instrumental in studying both Morton and his collection at Penn.
