Torn Apart: How the Child Welfare System Destroys Black Families--and How Abolition Can Build a Safer World (Basic Books 2022) won the 2023 American Sociological Association Distinguished Scholarly Book Award Honorable Mention. It was also a finalist for both the LA Times Book Prize and the C. Wright Mills Award and made the shortlist for the Goddard Riverside Stephan Russo Book Prize for Social Justice.
